German Auricular Medicine

What is it?

Auricular acupuncture – acupuncture of the outer ear – is an ancient medicine that is extensively practiced today by European physicians, but it has only recently been introduced to North American health practitioners. The results are Auricular Ear Acupuncture Pointsremarkable from this non-invasive treatment that is free of side effects. Chronic pain, neurological and hormonal conditions, migraines, insomnia, stress, depression, irritable bowel or bladder, and a multitude of other disorders are effectively assessed and treated with this modality.

The Ear tells the story. The ear holds the greatest number of acupuncture points of any part of the body, and as a reflex microsystem projection of the brain, the ear provides a precise map of the whole human system. Structures or tissue not accessible with body acupuncture or without invasive procedures (such as parts of the brain, or inner scars) are available here for treatment.

Further, only pathological points show up as active on the ear, making auricular acupuncture diagnostic. We can use the ear to assess what is happening right now in the entire human system, including finding hidden blockages to healing.

German Auricular Medicine, as introduced to North America by Vital Principle Institute in 2003, stands apart as a healing therapy because of its unparalleled precision, clinical effectiveness and endorsement by thousands of European medical practitioners who confirm its validity and promote its development. Based in western medicine, German Auricular Medicine is easy to integrate for western-trained health practitioners. Practitioners learn to design the most effective treatments that will identify and clear the root cause of patients’ symptoms, select and treat acupuncture points with precision, remove layers of stressors, and allow the whole system to return to its best possible homeostatic state. Our training includes the use of the Vascular Autonomic Signal (VAS) as a diagnostic tool, a subtle sympathetic response to new information, that facilitates zeroing in on the source of the problem.

Treatments can effectively be provided with needles, electrotherapy, seeds or laser therapy.

Auricular Acupuncture was discovered and developed by Dr. Paul Nogier of France during the 1950s to 1980s. German Auricular Medicine, as taught by Vital Principal Institute, follows the curriculum of the German Academy of Auricular Medicine, developed by Dr. Frank Bahr along with recent breakthroughs in removing blockages to healing achieved by Dr. Beate Strittmatter. Our training steps students through a learning process that brings an advanced medicine, for both assessments and treatments, into clinical health practice.
